An Arrest Is Not a Conviction
Being arrested does not establish guilt. Illinois records can also be corrected, sealed, or expunged. An old copy may therefore omit a later outcome or misstate present public status. Confirm the charge-level disposition with the circuit clerk, the source arrest record with the creating agency, and the statewide subject record through the Illinois State Police Bureau of Identification.
